The Approach
We were inspired by a range of visual backdrops, intentionally moving away from a traditional sports documentary aesthetic and toward something more art-house and contemplative. Instead of relying on speed, momentum, and spectacle, we created space for stillness - allowing the viewer time to sit with Yina’s experience rather than be propelled through it.
Yina’s story is strong on its own, so we made the choice to have her look directly into the lens and speak in her own words, without mediation or excess framing. This direct address builds intimacy and trust, placing the audience in a quiet, one-to-one exchange with her.
Visually, we wanted to hold both sides of her world: moments of training and physical discipline alongside quieter scenes at home, where she is left alone with her thoughts. By moving between these spaces, the film explores not just what she is training for, but what it means to her - how this pursuit lives in her body, her routine, and her inner life.
