This project looks at disconnection and reconnection through simple, abstract scenes.

Most of the film was shot with a steady, static camera, allowing moments to unfold slowly and without interruption. This created space to sit with the characters rather than push a point. During the rave scenes, the camera shifted to handheld, adding movement and energy that matched the feeling of being pulled back into a shared, physical experience.

While making the film, I was thinking a lot about how disconnected daily life can feel, especially with so much time spent in front of screens. That led me to read about hikikomori, a form of extreme isolation where people withdraw almost completely from the outside world. I also came across smile-restoration classes in Japan, created for people who felt they had lost the ability to smile during the pandemic.

Both of these stayed with me. They pointed to a kind of isolation that goes beyond being alone - a feeling of being cut off from your own body. This world grew out of those thoughts, focusing less on answers and more on what it feels like to lose touch with yourself, and what it might take to slowly find your way back.
